The embodiment of artistic intents in the plastic and figurative forms of representation has been a dramatic moment in the human history defined by revolutionary processes to master matter in terms of colors, shapes, materials and techniques. The relationship between art and education has a long history during which it has acquired various forms that, far from following each other in a linear sequence, coexist and hybridize. We suggest through this call to communication organizing an international colloquium within which we think about the question of the cultural inter-territoriality with regard to the field of the Visual Arts in its contradictory and complementary aspects. Is the inventory of fixtures of the visual practices in the Mediterranean Basin today, only, dependent on relations North / South lunatics? Do these old historic connections still persist in front of the current world order which subjects the "globalized" artistic scene in new cultural and territorial relations?

Ph.D. programs and research networks at M-Node focus on processes of cultural and technological change. The main goal of the doctoral programs is to produce cultural and technological knowledge in areas marked by a lack of metodological approach and skilled human capital. M-Node focuses exclusively on Doctoral and Postdoctoral programs, starting on Ph.D programs, achieving a significant integration between research on arts and technologies.
The framework of the conference is based on the assumption that the evolution of sciences and technologies, and their impact on society, suggests new research questions that constantly tend to expand the ways to design research - in term of topics of interests, approaches and contaminations - research questions that can be relevant for the design knowledge, practice and education.
Consciousness Reframed is an international research conference that was first convened in 1997, and is now in its 9th incarnation. It is a forum for transdisciplinary inquiry into art, science, technology and consciousness, drawing upon the expertise and insights of artists, architects, performers, musicians, writers, scientists, and scholars, usually from at least 20 countries. Recent past conferences were convened in Beijing and Perth Western Australia. This year, the conference will be held on the main campus of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Austria. The conference will include researchers associated with the Planetary Collegium, which has its CAiiA- hub at Plymouth and nodes at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arte, Milan, and the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, Zürich.
